Morgan & Mauricio
Five Star Wedding in Riviera Maya

The sheers hanging on the sides of the gazebo were perfectly pinned in place with gorgeous tropical flowers; white chairs were arranged on the sand facing the ocean. The bridal party stood with Morgan’s soon-to-be husband awaiting her arrival.
“I walked along the pool deck and down some stairs to the beach. There were white rose petals along the aisle as I walked down,” Morgan said. “My husband didn’t turn around until I was walking down the aisle. Everything was perfect.”
Morgan and Mauricio recently said their vows at Azul Fives Hotel by Karisma in Riviera Maya. It was the perfect kind of wedding for this couple, who never imagined a big wedding.
They first met more than five years ago, both working in the travel industry at the time. In 2014, Mauricio surprised Morgan on her birthday with a proposal while they were visiting his family in El Salvador. “We thought a destination wedding would be more relaxed and fun. It suits our personalities to get married on the beach,” she said.
That is exactly what they did. After the couple said their vows, their guests cheered them on and blew bubbles over them as they left the ceremony. A reception on the pool deck overlooking the sea followed. Strings of tiny globes and delicate paper decorations hung over the tables, and each guest received a Mexican maraca as a gift. Family platters of delicious local cuisine and desserts were served.
Morgan and Mauricio were fortunate to have 83 guests join them – this was one of the highlights of their wedding experience. “It was amazing to have that many people there for an entire week, not just a night. It really is an once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Morgan said. Some family members travelled from as far as Japan and Scotland to be there.
Following a week at the Azul 5 resort, the couple slipped away to another resort, the Occidental At Xcaret, and enjoyed a week-long honeymoon.
